Co Extrusion Decking

Co-Extrusion Decking

Coextrusion is the process of two or more materials passing through the same die at the same time. The result is a new work that retains the unique beneficial properties of the original material. The coextrusion process fuses the protective outer layer to the inner wood plastic core.

The capped panels have incredible resistance to contamination, fading, moisture and insects. They do not break or degrade and are easy to maintain. The annual soap and water cleaning is usually to make them look like new.

Although we often refer to this outer layer as a "cover", this does not mean that it may be ejected from the inside of the board or otherwise separated. In combination with the core material, the covering material - and the excellent stain and fading resistance it provides - is permanent.

Provides natural wood grain texture

The Wood Co-Extrusion trim panel has an external shroud that provides a natural wood grain texture that protects the deck from chapped, formed, faded and stained surfaces.

The product has good water resistance

The capped WPC is the latest decorative product with a solid surface. The outer casing is made of a modified plastic that is scratch resistant and easy to clean while keeping the internal WPC material from absorbing water.

Deck Build & Detail

- If you are working between set lines, check that they are parallel. This will help with wastage and help disguise lines that are not straight.

- Use a one or two board perimeter around a deck and then lay the boards perpendicularly inside. Make sure there is an area for water and leaves to fall through.

- Think about giving a deck an overhang, rather than a trim.

- Always crossover. Use the length of the profiles in the direction of the shorter side of the deck.

- Build in boxes. Building a border of two profiles around each profile length area will prevent profiles impacting each other head to toe and will control expansion.

- If you want to keep your gaps perfectly in line, use the locking clip where you are making your joins. Top fix a single screw through the centre of each profile. This way thermal expansion will be equal in all directions and profiles will not move over time.

Care and Maintenance

Following our easy-care tips will ensure that your decking looks fresh and attractive for years to come.

NORMAL CARE
Once ECO Hollow decking is installed, periodic cleaning is necessary to keep it looking great. For dirt, dust and other residue, simply brush with a soft broom. If necessary, wash the decking down in the direction of the grain with a garden hose or a pressure washer, no more than 1,500 psi.

PROBLEM

SOLUTION

Mould and Mildew

Clean away leaves and debris that promote mould growth. Ideally, you should clean the dirt off your walls before mildew starts, because the dirt is what feeds the mould. If mould/mildew appears, a deck washing product and a detergent can be used. Never mix any other cleaners with the deck washing product. Vinegar can be used to kill the mould.

Rust stains/stubborn spots

Use a cleaning product containing oxalic or phosphoric acid base to lighten or remove the rust or dirt. Product may need to sit on stain 10-15 minutes.

Ice and snow

If you reside in a cold weather climate and would like to avoid accumulating snow/ice on your ECO Hollow deck, use calcium chloride or safety rock salt to melt it. Remove the ice and snow with a plastic or wood shovel as it begins to melt.

Oil and Grease Stains

As soon as the spill has occurred, use hot water and dishwashing detergent, to remove the stain. Be sure to thoroughly rinse the detergent off the deck with hot water. If need be, use a light stainless steel scourer.

Berries and Wine Stains

Mix bleach into hot water according to the bleach-packaging label. Scrub the stain lightly and rinse thoroughly. The stain may not disappear entirely.

Ink Stains

Inks may be permanent. However, scrubbing with hot soapy water may lighten the stain. Rinse thoroughly.
